In Memory

Cindy Walton (Erikson)

Cindy Lorraine Walton (Erikson)

April 8, 1953 – September 27, 2022

If you are reading this, then Cindy is gone, dead, departed, motionless.  She drifted off this mortal coil on September 27th, 2022.  Her spirit was released from its worn-out body and is now exploring the Universe.

She was born on April 8th, 1953 to Elmer and Ethel Walton in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Cindy is leaving behind a lot of stuff that her sons and daughter either do not want or will have no idea what to do with, so if you are interested, please wait the appropriate amount of time and contact them.  Tomorrow should be fine.

She takes with her a lot of priceless memories.  Here are a couple fun ones.  For instance, the time Bryon and Holly were left with a babysitter (Norm) and decided to cut each other’s hair.  Then they went out and cut the cat’s hair.  Another is when Mike decided that the TV was his own coloring page.  It’s really hard to get crayon off a TV screen by the way.  Yes, these are just two of my many favorite memories.

Cindy married her hubby Norman in 1975, a year after they met at the drop zone.  Their first kiss was in freefall at 7000 ft.

They have enjoyed 17,520ish wonderful days together.  Just when she thought she was too old to fall in love again, Cindy became a grandmother to Cody, Logan, and Taylor who stole her heart.

Cindy is survived by her husband Norman Alfred Erikson, sister Vicki Syrett (Arthur), brother Lance Walton (Sue), son Michael Neil Erikson (Christal), son Bryon James Cody Erikson, daughter Holly Michelle Erikson Barker (Chad), and grandchildren Cody William Barker, Logan Chad Barker, and Taylor Annie Barker.  She is proceeded in death by her parents Elmer and Ethel Walton, her brother Kent Walton, her tonsils in 1959, left mammary in 1996, gallbladder in 2005, a portion of her knee in 2012, and a couple of teeth here and there.

Her achievements include; graduate East High School '71, worked in retail and finance, numerous volunteer activities and church callings.  She loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting for various attractions to see and photograph for her scrapbooks.

Well, there you have it, she was born; blinked; and it was over.  Please note her change of address to Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake.

I didn't know Cindy well.  I am saddened by her passing and have much admiration for her candor and truth in the writing of her own obituary. It is an indication of her happiness as a wife, mother and grandmother. I have much respect for her.  I am sure that she is flying high in the clouds and exploring every piece of the Universe.  My heart goes out to her family.

CINDY WAS A BLAST TO BE AROUND. I DATED HER AND WE HAD A BLAST TOGETHER. I REMEMBER THE TIME WE WENT TO BRIDAL FAIL FALLS. IT WAS AT NIGHT AND WE WENT UP TO THE TOP ON THE GONDOLA. THE VIEW UP THERE WAS BEAUTILFUL ( AS WAS CINDY). IT WAS TIME TO CLOSE FOR THE EVENING SO WE GOT ON THE GONDOLA. THE GONDOLA HEADED DOWN BUT STOPPED HALF WAY. THERE WAS ONLY US AND THE OPERATOR ON BOARD AT THE TIME. HE TOLD US THE EQUIPMENT FROZE UP, THEY HAD TO  HAND  TURN US THE REST OF THE WAY DOWN. THAT TOOK ALMOST 2 HRS IN WINDY CONDITIONS. ONCE WE WERE DOWN AND SAFE WE HAD A GOOD LAUGH. I HAVE MANY GREAT MEMORIES AND A ENDURING LOVE FOR CINDY. RIP JIM

I met Cindy in 7th grade at Roosevelt J.H. and we became best friends during our middle school years. Her dad would take us to movies downtown, we walked to each others homes after school and had many sleepovers.  I remember coming home from school one day and she (with a few more friends) decorated my bedroom and had my kitchen all set up with birthday decorations when I turned 15 years old. Friends are priceless, Cindy was a priceless true friend. We spent many winters on the slopes learning to skii and having so much fun!

In high school, Cindy and I drifted apart mostly, however kept in contact to some degree. We did go together with the science club packing and hiking down and up the Grand Canyon (staying down in the bottom of the canyon overnight!) What a trip and wonderful lifetime experience we had!

Cindy & I met together a few times after we were both married and talked about our lives on the phone. She lived a wonderful life just like Doris said above. I didn't realize Jim Merrill dated Cindy though, as Jim was my first date:) Very interesting Jim! Ha, Ha, what fun we all had.

I knew Cindy went through cancer and had a mastectomy years ago, where she was working and her love of animals. Cindy is with her other family members who have gone on, but will be remembered by many for her kindness & lives she has touched.

I knew Cindy in grade school and remember her sparking smile. We were just acquaintances after that. She sounds like she had a wonderful life. God speed, Cindy😘
